Temperature Dependence of Lanczos Coefficients

Abstract: There has been a resurgence of interest in the Lanczos method as an efficient way of describing operator dynamics. The starting point is the thermal autocorrelation function that endows the Lanczos coefficients with temperature dependence. I will describe how the temperature dependence of the Lanczos coefficients can be recast as a classical integrable system which can be formally solved as an initial value problem. I will give examples and discuss potential applications.
